Welcome to ~
THE CANDIDATES’ ACTIVE LEARNING FORUM
EMPATHY AND COMPASSION: Two words that these days are recognized as crucially meaningful.
Do you want to intentionally contribute to growing the seeds of EMPATHY AND COMPASSION in yourself, others and the world?
Over the past 30 years, thousands of ambassadors for peace have chosen the path of NONVIOLENT COMMUNICATION to look deeply into the roots of violence and to positively reverse its presence in our world. Do you share this desire to impact change toward a nonviolent world? You can make a difference: you can contribute to the grassroots movement to relate human to human in a way that models understanding and dissipate inhumanity and violence on all levels.
USING TECHNOLOGY FOR PEACE
The scope of influence made possible with today’s technology is compelling, and the Candidates Active Learning Forum utilizes the internet and telephone for distance gatherings, so that time and financial resources of participants can be conserved. The long-distance format also allows people from all over the world to join the program.
Face to face gatherings and retreats have been rated by participants as being beneficial for community bonding and relationship building. Our retreat in Arizona is as follows:
Starts: Monday, March 7, 2016 at 5pm (1 hr prior to dinner)
Ends: Saturday, March 12, 2016 after breakfast
If you would like to join the 2015-16 CALF Program, the first step is to fill out the application form (with no obligation).

The symbolic mascot of Nonviolent Communication is the giraffe, chosen for its large heart and vast perspective. Using the term CALF for a young giraffe, we have adopted “Oliver” as our mascot and reminder to deeply listen with empathic ears, and to speak from our own compassionate heart, with understanding and care for anyone we are in contact with. We are all learners and in some way we are all CALFs.
